Traveling has opened my eyes to many types of accommodations – some more conscious than others. It is a big part of what inspired my sustainability journey, encouraged exploring with less impact, and even pushed me to fly less and to wander locally more often.
After speaking with hosts all over the world, a common theme emerged: they want their guests to witness the beauty that is their home. They want them to see what they see – what they love about their backyard. Now when chatting with travelers, nature is often what is craved on adventures, in all different forms: beaches, forests, mountaintops, tree-lined city boardwalks…you name it. We yearn for this connection, and most of us light up when we find out we can support spaces that not only reconnect us with nature, but also better align with our values.
That is where Savour the Detour comes in.
I connect individuals, hosts, and local businesses who all have one thing in common: they are trying to make a difference. Lowering your hosting footprint and contributing to a circular economy should not feel unattainable. I meet you where you are and break down the steps you can take, both big and small. This can range from adding a compost bin to your kitchens, refilling shampoo bottles, or even partnering with local conservation projects that open the eyes of your guests.

THE LEAF
This includes a basic guide to get you started: Sustainability 101: A Host’s Guide to Creating An Eco-Accommodation.
We will also have a personalized 1 hour consulting session where I outline the steps needed for your unique space.
THE BRANCH
Along with the Sustainability 101 guide, this package offers 2 hours of consulting where we add on a deeper dive: identifying local businesses that you can work with!
Zero-waste stores, artists, coffee shops, breweries – so many opportunities await.
THE TREE
Not sure you have the time to focus on making these changes? Allow me! This package is best for those who already have a thriving business and want to be recognized for more than a travel accommodation. In addition to the guide & consulting, I meet with businesses in your community & connect on your behalf. We also explore different certifications you may want to consider, & how to get there!
